- Soun Tendo’s attempt to suck Shadow Ranma into a crimson gourd was based on the crimson gourd own by the two demon king brothers from the Chinese story of “Journey to the West”, Great King Kinkaku & Great King Ginkaku.
- In the sub, after Ranma tosses away the incense, Akane comments that it was a waste since the shadow lets someone be more honest with one's self (meaning that Ranma really does love Akane). In the dub it was changed to her just being glad that Ranma is back to normal (as normal as he can get anyway).
