Viz Media's License Expired?

There is some speculation swirling on certain websites stating that Viz Media's license to Ranma ½ expired in July 2012. I do not know more about this, but if anyone knows more about this, feel free to keep discussing so we can determine if this should be mentioned in the article.70.240.185.26 19:18, January 4, 2013 (UTC)Chris

This was posted on Wikipedia too. I don't think the license has expired. Ranma is pretty popular in the US and if the license did expire, Viz would've released a pr saying so. But they haven't, so I think it's just something made up. Ryoga (talk) 04:21, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
I was the one who asked this on Wikipedia, btw. I've been concerned about this because not long ago, I was on Viz Media's facebook page, where I suggested that one day, they should re-release Ranma on Blu-Ray (because in Japan, the series was getting a Blu-Ray release). Shortly after that, several people were telling me that Viz Media's license expired. I asked for proof, and the only proof (as follows) that they showed me was that (1) if you type "ranma" on Viz' website, only the manga shows up on the search results. Plus, (2) on Viz' online store, they have extremely limited quanities of the DVD sets of each of the 7 seasons. And finally (3), the people there tried showing me a forum post from another website about Viz' license expiring. I tried to believe the people who told me about this, but I needed more proof. I even tried talking to Viz on their Twitter page about this to find out for myself, but so far, I have not gotten back a response.70.240.186.28 21:46, January 15, 2013 (UTC)Chris
Hm, I see. I think they're just getting out of print. Maison Ikkoku DVDs are very rare now. Did you post a thread about this on Perfect Edition. Dylan and Harley follow all Takahashi series and they'd definitely know more about this :) Ryoga (talk) 13:27, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
